59% of the UK population over 18 have a twitter account but most people (68%) are either passive or irregular users.
In fact, most people use twitter to keep up with the news. Only around 13% of all users actually use it to voice an opinion or communicate with brands.
How should you use it
Twitter is brilliant for delivering breaking news, so reactive content works really well. It's also great for customer service, providing a direct link between customer and brand.
